Attending Planner — Privacy Policy

1. Summary

Attending Planner is a personal planning and reflection app for physicians. It is built to work without an account, without ads, and without sending your personal entries anywhere.

In plain terms:

Your content stays on your device. Your Wheel of Life scores, Weekly Rounds entries, gratitude journal, tasks, and profile are stored locally in the app's own storage.

No account, no sign-up. The app is fully functional the first time you open it.

No advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

We cannot read your entries. Coach JPMD, LLC has no server that receives them and no ability to access them.

Deleting the app deletes your planner data. There is no copy of your entries held elsewhere.

Optional paid plans use an anonymous purchase check. If you subscribe or make a purchase, Apple or Google processes the payment, and our subscription service provider, RevenueCat, receives an anonymous app ID and your purchase status so the app can unlock paid features. This is the only information that leaves your device besides the podcast feed request. See §4.

The sections below explain this in detail.

2. Information stored on your device

The app stores the following locally, in storage private to the app:

This information is written to your device and read back by the app. It is not transmitted to Coach JPMD, LLC or to any third party.

Profile photo. If you choose to add a profile photo, the app asks your device for permission to access your photo library. The image you select is copied into the app's local storage. The app does not browse, index, or upload your photo library, and declining the permission leaves the rest of the app fully usable.

Device lock. If you enable biometric or passcode protection for the app, authentication is handled entirely by your device's own operating system (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or device passcode). The app receives only a success-or-failure result. It never receives, stores, or transmits your biometric data, which never leaves the secure hardware on your device.

Secure storage. Where the app needs to store a sensitive value, it uses your device's system keychain or keystore rather than ordinary app storage.

3. What we do not collect

Apart from the anonymous purchase information described in §4, Coach JPMD, LLC does not collect, receive, store, sell, rent, or share:

Your journal entries, Wheel of Life scores, Weekly Rounds responses, tasks, or notes

Your name, date of birth, graduation year, or profile photo

Your email address or any contact information (the app never asks for one)

Your location, at any level of precision

Your contacts, calendar, messages, call history, or files

Advertising identifiers, or any identifier used for cross-app or cross-site tracking

The app contains no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. The only third-party software service built into the app is RevenueCat, used solely to verify purchases (§4). There is no account system, so there is nothing to log in to and no user record on our side.

4. Network activity and purchases

The app makes two categories of outbound network request in normal use.

Podcast episode list. To show you new episodes of The Independent Physician's Blueprint, the app fetches a public RSS feed hosted by Buzzsprout:

This is a read-only request for a public file. It sends no personal information about you and carries no identifier we assign. As with any internet request, Buzzsprout — as the host of that file — may record standard server-log information such as your IP address and the type of device making the request. That handling is governed by Buzzsprout's own privacy policy, not ours, and we receive nothing from it.

Subscriptions and purchases. Attending Planner offers optional paid subscriptions and a one-time founding-member purchase. Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never see or store your payment card or billing details.

To verify purchases and unlock paid features, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc., a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated for your installation, along with your purchase and subscription status (such as which plan you hold, trial status, renewal and expiration dates, and the store receipt). This information is not linked to your name or email address, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites, or for advertising. RevenueCat acts as our service provider; you can read how it handles data at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy. Your subscription is managed, cancelled, and refunded through your Apple or Google account, under those companies' policies. None of your planner entries, profile information, or photos are sent to RevenueCat.

Links you tap. Some screens link out to our website (for example, the book page, support page, privacy policy, or terms). Tapping one opens your device's browser and is an ordinary visit to that site.

5. Notifications

The app can send you two kinds of reminder, both of which you control:

A gratitude reminder at a time you choose in Settings

A birthday message on the date of birth you entered in your profile

These are scheduled locally by your device. The date and time are stored on your device, and scheduling them requires no network connection. You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings, or in your device's system settings for the app.

6. Exports, printing, and backups

PDF export and printing. You can export any week, month, or multi-week stretch as a PDF. The PDF is generated on your device. Where it goes next is your choice — saving it, printing it, or sharing it hands the file to whatever app or service you select, and from that point it is governed by that service's terms, not this policy.

Backup and restore. The app can write a backup file containing your app data, which you can store wherever you choose and later restore. This file is created by and for you. It is not uploaded to us, and we have no access to it. Because it contains your journal entries and profile in readable form, treat it with the same care as any personal document — particularly if you store it in a shared cloud folder or send it to yourself by email.

Cloud backup is not active. Cloud backup functionality exists in the app's code but is disabled and non-functional in this release. No configuration is present that would allow it to transmit anything. If we enable cloud backup in a future version, we will update this policy before that version ships and will update the privacy disclosures on the App Store and Google Play at the same time.

7. Your choices and control over your data

Because your planner data lives only on your device, you control it directly:

Edit or delete any entry from within the app at any time.

Export a copy of your data using the backup feature, at any time, for any reason.

Delete everything by deleting the app from your device. This removes the app's local storage, including all entries, your profile, and your photo. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and no deletion request to submit.

Manage your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Purchase records are held by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat under their own policies; for help with those, write to us at the address in §12.

Revoke permissions — notifications, photo library access — in your device's system settings for the app, at any time.

If you have a question about your data, you can write to us at the address in §12, though please note that we will not be able to look up, recover, or delete your entries for you, because we never receive them.

8. Children's privacy

Attending Planner is intended for practicing physicians, residents, and fellows, and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — indeed, apart from the anonymous purchase information described in §4, we do not collect personal information from any user, of any age, as described in §3. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us at the address in §12.

9. Security

Your data is protected by the security controls your device provides: app-sandboxed storage, full-device encryption when you have a passcode or biometric lock set, and the system keychain or keystore for sensitive values. The app adds an optional biometric or passcode lock on top of that, which you can enable in Settings.

Keeping your data on your device removes the risk of a breach of our servers exposing it, because there is no server holding it. It does mean the security of your entries depends on the security of your device. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system up to date.

No method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

We do not collect personal information from users of this app beyond the anonymous purchase and subscription information described in §4, which is not linked to your name or contact details. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have never done so. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose requiring a right to limit.

You have the right to make a request under the CCPA regardless, and you will not be discriminated against for doing so. Requests may be sent to the address in §12; we will respond to confirm what, if anything, we hold about you.

11. Users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Data you enter in the app is processed locally on your own device, under your own control, and is not transmitted to us — so we act as neither a controller nor a processor of it. The only information that leaves your device is the anonymous purchase and subscription information described in §4, which is handled by Apple, Google, and our service provider RevenueCat in order to deliver the purchase you request.

Should this change in a future version — for example if cloud backup is activated — we will update this policy and identify the lawful basis for that processing before the version ships.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy if the app's data practices change, and we will change the "Last updated" date above when we do. Material changes — most notably the activation of cloud backup — will be reflected here and in the app's App Store and Google Play privacy disclosures before the version making the change is released. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

14. Not medical advice

Attending Planner is a personal planning and reflection tool. It is not medical advice, does not establish a clinician–patient relationship, and is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Nothing you record in the app is reviewed by a clinician.
